Most appointments take approximately 30–45 minutes. Medicals involving additional testing, employer-specific requirements or more complex medical history may take 60–90 minutes. Please allow sufficient time when arranging your appointment.
Having a medical condition does not automatically mean that you will be unable to obtain medical certification. Please provide accurate information about your medical history and bring any relevant recent reports, clinic letters, test results or medication details if available.
Depending on the medical standard and your individual circumstances, further information or investigation may occasionally be required before a final certification decision can be made.
Yes. If you normally wear contact lenses, please also bring your glasses to the appointment. Contact lenses may need to be removed during the examination so that your vision can be assessed appropriately.
If you normally wear glasses, please bring them with you. For some regulatory medicals, a recent optician or ophthalmology report may also be requested if there is a significant visual condition or if further information is required.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are running late, contact the clinic as soon as possible.
We will try to accommodate you where possible, but significant delays may mean that there is insufficient time to complete the required assessment and your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
Payment
For fixed-price medicals, payment is required at the time of booking to secure the appointment. A booking is not confirmed until payment has been received.
For bespoke, employer-specific or other medicals where the fee is confirmed after reviewing the requirements, payment is normally required within 48 hours of the invoice or payment request, unless otherwise agreed. For appointments taking place within 48 hours, payment is required promptly once the fee has been confirmed.
Cancellation and rescheduling
The medical fee means the fee for the assessment booked — for example, the applicable ENG1, OEUK, PEME, mining, safety-critical or other medical fee — rather than a separate appointment charge.
Please contact Marina Medicals as soon as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange. These charges reflect the clinical time reserved and losses arising from late cancellation or non-attendance. Where Marina Medicals is able to mitigate its loss, for example by filling the appointment with another patient, any appropriate refund will be considered. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
Where the assessment is complete and the relevant medical standard has been met, certificates can usually be issued at the appointment or shortly afterwards.
Occasionally, further medical information, reports or investigations may be required before a certification decision can be made. If this applies, the doctor will explain what is required and the next steps.
Results that are available during your appointment will normally be discussed with you at the time. Tests sent to an external laboratory may take several working days, depending on the investigation requested.
You will be advised of the expected timeframe and how the results will be communicated. If further assessment or medical information is required as a result, this will also be explained to you.
Yes. Free parking spaces are available for patients attending Marina Medicals. Please register your vehicle registration number at reception on arrival to avoid any parking charges.
