Doctor-led ML5 medical assessment for masters and crew working on qualifying domestic and small commercial vessels under UK maritime requirements.

ML5 Medical

£155

The ML5 medical report and certificate is used for certain masters and crew working on domestic passenger vessels, small commercial vessels and specified fishing vessels.

Marina Medicals can complete the medical examination and ML5 documentation required for your application.

Do I Need ML5 or ENG1?

The certificate you require depends on your vessel, role, operating area and voyage pattern.

ML5 commonly applies to qualifying domestic and small commercial vessel work, while ENG1 is required for broader merchant-seafarer duties and other circumstances specified by the MCA.

If you are unsure, send us your vessel and certification requirements before booking.

Please bring the current ML5 medical report form and any relevant medical information to your appointment. If a medical condition requires referral under the ML5 process, the certificate may not be issued immediately and further MCA review may be required.

What is an ML5 Medical?

The ML5 is a medical report and certificate used for specified seafarers working on certain domestic passenger vessels, small commercial vessels and other qualifying UK maritime operations.

The examination considers whether there are medical conditions that could affect safe performance of your duties at sea.

Who Needs an ML5?

ML5 certification applies to certain masters and crew whose vessel, role and operating area fall within the relevant MCA requirements.

It is commonly used for qualifying domestic and small commercial vessel operations. Some seafarers will require an ENG1 instead.

If you are unsure which certificate applies, send us your vessel, role and operating-area details before booking.
