Doctor-led medical assessments for crane operators and personnel undertaking safety-sensitive lifting operations, tailored to the equipment, duties, workplace hazards and employer requirements.
Our Crane Operator Medical in Cardiff provides a doctor-led fitness assessment for workers undertaking crane, lifting and other safety-critical duties. Employers, contractors and site operators may require this assessment to confirm fitness for safety-sensitive lifting operations.
The purpose is to consider whether a health condition or functional limitation could materially affect safe performance, particularly where the role involves operation of heavy equipment, work at height, restricted access or responsibility for lifting operations.
There is no single universal medical examination for every crane operator. The assessment should reflect the type of crane or lifting equipment, duties undertaken, workplace risk assessment and any employer or site-specific medical standard.
Doctor-led medical assessment tailored to the operator’s role and occupational risk profile.
The medical may include occupational and medical history, medication review, clinical examination and vision assessment, with further testing where clinically indicated or specified.
Some employers, contractors and sites use their own crane-operator or lifting-operations medical standards.
Marina Medicals can complete the assessment according to the supplied specification and arrange additional investigations where required.
Please send any employer, contractor or site medical form before booking where possible so we can confirm the assessment, testing requirements, appointment duration and fee.
Doctor-Led Clinical Review
Relevant medical and occupational history, medication review and clinical examination, with particular consideration of conditions that may impair safe crane or lifting operations.
Role-Appropriate Testing
Vision and functional capability are considered according to the operator’s duties, including access, mobility and work-at-height requirements where relevant.
Where Specified
Audiometry, spirometry, ECG, exercise-fitness testing or other investigations can be arranged where required by the employer, site or occupational standard.
Audiometry, spirometry and ECG are not automatically required for every crane medical; additional testing should reflect the role, hazards and applicable employer requirements.
Rapid urine screening plus laboratory and chain-of-custody testing where required.
ECG, spirometry, audiometry, Chester Step Test and other standalone testing.
Role-specific medicals for forklift, plant and machinery operators.
