Respiratory Surveillance & Occupational Spirometry in Cardiff

Doctor-led respiratory health surveillance and spirometry for workers exposed to substances or workplace processes that may affect respiratory health.

What is Respiratory Health Surveillance?

Respiratory health surveillance may be required where workers are exposed to substances or processes capable of causing occupational respiratory disease.

Spirometry provides an objective assessment of lung function and can help identify changes over time when used alongside an appropriate occupational and respiratory history.

Marina Medicals can provide individual spirometry assessments and scheduled respiratory health-surveillance programmes for employers.

Occupational Spirometry

£95

Spirometry for occupational assessment or health surveillance, with lung-function measurements recorded for occupational health surveillance where appropriate.

Spirometry with Doctor Review

£120

Occupational spirometry with medical interpretation where symptoms, abnormal findings or occupational-health input require clinical review.

Employer Respiratory Surveillance Programmes

Baseline and periodic respiratory surveillance can be arranged according to the employer’s COSHH risk assessment, workplace exposures and surveillance requirements.

What Can Respiratory Surveillance Include?

Respiratory Questionnaire & History

Assessment of respiratory symptoms, relevant medical history and occupational exposure.

Spirometry

Measurement of lung function, including FEV1, FVC and other relevant spirometric parameters.

Clinical Review & Escalation

Medical review where symptoms, lung-function results or changes over time require further assessment or referral.

Respiratory health surveillance does not replace effective control of workplace exposure. It forms part of the employer’s wider COSHH and occupational risk-management arrangements.

When May Respiratory Surveillance Be Relevant?

Dust Exposure

Workers exposed to respiratory dusts where the workplace risk assessment identifies a need for surveillance.

Respiratory Sensitisers

Workers exposed to substances capable of causing occupational asthma or other sensitisation.

Other Workplace Exposures

Employer-defined surveillance where fumes, vapours, chemicals or occupational processes may affect respiratory health.
